It doesn’t take much to keep me working–whether that is visual art, photography, or writing. A positive word. A thumbs up. Anything will do. Even a shrug of the shoulders can be a gesture of approval.

Right now, the only people that are reading red carnation are my neighbors. This morning I got a thumbs up from one of them and a critique telling me what they like about my writing so far. No one that I know of has finished the book yet, but maybe it’s more than most can chew. I’ll be curious to see if their critiques change after they read the ending.

I’m looking forward to reading my first review on Amazon. Until those start pouring in, the novella is stuck in algorithm limbo. And I’m looking forward to my first bookstore sale.

In the meantime I’m back to work on my Big Novel. It doesn’t have a name yet. Every title I think of has already been taken, so until I find one that works for me, it’s called The Big Novel. I’ve been working on it for over a year now and while I truly think of it as science fiction, every time I write something, especially about the AI-characters, within two weeks I find it in a headline.

It’s a dystopian sci-fi with, hopefully, a happy ending.
